In the 69th meeting of the Board of J&K State Power Development Corporation the Chief Minister has stressed on maintaining monthly progress report of various power generating projects in the pipeline. Rightly calling power as the key to the prosperity of the State, he is taking stock of all projects small and big to ensure that the State is able to generate 9000 MW of power and become self sufficient. Various smaller power generating projects in remote place in all the three regions have also been reviewed and the Chief Minister has been briefed on the position of power supply in near future. We have always said that the progress of the State depends on regular and cheap power supply because ours is a hilly state and big industries cannot be established unless we have uninterrupted power supply. It is satisfying that the Chief Minister is seized of the problem and wants to free the people from the menace of power shortage and power cuts.
