Stolen scooty recovered, thief arrested

JAMMU, Mar 19: Anti Vehicle Theft and Recovery (AVTAR) team recovered a stolen scooty from Gujjar Nagar area and arrested the thief.
As per police sources, A student of Jammu University namely Tushar Mahajan, son of Parshotam Lal, a resident of Kanak Mandi, lodged a complaint with police station Bagh-e-Bahu stating that some unknown person had stolen his Scooty bearing registration number JK02AM-4564 from Jammu University Gate.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 33/16 under Section 379 RPC was registered at police station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation started.
In its drive against vehicle theft, the AVTAR team laid a surprise naka in Gujjar Nagar area and recovered the stolen Scooty and arrested the thief, who has been identified as Samarth Puri, son of Varinder Puri, a resident of Panjtirthi.
AVTAR team led by Incharge Gujjar Nagar police post SI Mohammad Rashid recovered the stolen scooty and arrested the thief under the supervision of SHO Peer Mitha Inspector Javed Malik, SDPO City Vivek Shekhar Sharma and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
