JAMMU, May 30: All Jammu based stone crusher unit owners have demanded relaxation for lifting of raw material for six months till the e-auctioning process is completed.
They have also demanded reservation of minor mineral blocks for stone crusher units as per the pattern of Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh for uninterrupted supply of raw materials, besides fresh demarcation of left out blocks within the radius of 5 to 8 kilometers for stone crusher units.
These demands were raised during a meeting of the Jammu based stone crusher unit owners, held under the banner of Stone Crusher Association and chairmanship of Saleem Khan.
The Association members strongly condemned the order issued by Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, J&K, vide number 95-IND of 2020, dated 27-05-2020. “The stone crusher units are at the verge of closure due to non availability of raw material since November 2019 and all 300 stone crusher units in Jammu province are non-functional, resulting a huge loss on account of wages of idol labourers, salaries of skilled employees, machinery maintenance and other Government taxes, besides interest on loan amount of vehicles, Excavators, crusher machinery etc,” they said.
Seeking relaxation for lifting of raw material for six months till the completion of e-auctioning process, Saleem Khan said that the unit holders were ready to pay royalty components in advance to Government as per the rules and regulation.
Also demanding reservation of minor mineral blocks and fresh demarcation of left out blocks, the Association stressed that SRO 302 should be implemented for fresh cases and relaxation should be given to existing stone crushers.
Saleem Khan lamented that a serious of meetings in this regard were held with Director Geology & Mining, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Department and with the Advisor to Lt Governor but nothing positive was done. “Instead of giving relaxations to stone crusher units, the minor mineral blocks have been given to Government agencies,” he added.
