KATHUA, Nov 24: A joint team from the Revenue Department, Police and officials from Geology and Mining Department today sealed a stone crusher at the bank of river Tarnah, near Jangi Chak in Hira Nagar Sub Division late this evening.
Official sources said that on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, the joint team comprising of DMO Kathua, BR Bhagat, Tehsildar Hiranagar, Avtar Singh Jasrotia and SHO Hira Nagar, Insp Arvind Sambyal conducted raid and sealed the stone rusher located near Jangi Chak at the bank of river Tarnah in Hirangar. The unit belonged to Balwant Singh Rai, son of Sain Dass, resident of Hiranagar.
DM Kathua said that this unit was seized on his directions on November 22 and its electricity supply was also snapped on his directions. But it was learnt that the `influential owner’ managed a Gen Set and resumed the illegal operation of the sealed stone crusher during night hours in violation of his orders.
After receiving this information, he directed DMO Kathua, Tehsildar and SHO Hiranagar to conduct raid tonight and seize the crusher along with Gen Set and also register a case against the owner. He said the team raided the premises at around 8 pm and despite strong resistance from the owner and his musclemen, sealed the Gen Set and also seized a JCB on the spot. He said case stand registered against Balwant Singh Rai, owner of the stone crusher for running his unit illegally.
