Stone crusher units to go on strike from today

RAJOURI, Dec 21: Stone crusher units of Rajouri district today resolved to go on indefinite strike from December 22.
The unit holders today met Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Commissioner/Secretary Geology and Mining Department Amit Sharma regarding problems faced by them. The delegation led by Vipan Mehta president Crusher Association Rajouri highlighted various issues of Association to which both top officials assured immediate redressal of grievances and demands of the stone crusher unit holders.
In the meantime, the Crusher Association of District Rajouri decided to go on indefinite strike in connection with the difficulties faced by the crusher holders and undue harassment by various stakeholders. Mehta said, the stone crushers play a vital role in giving push to the Government works, but the authorities have made their operations difficult.
The Mining Department instead of acting against the illegal mining mafia, taking regressive actions against the legally operating stone crushers. He said there are around 25 Stone Crusher units which are running legally in District Rajouri, which in turn are generating the employment for thousands of locals in the District. The stone crushers have already low rates and repeated harassment by multiple authorities have cost them serious losses which has become difficult for them to run this business smoothly. In view of this the stone crusher units holders have decided to shut down their units from Dec 22, 2022 for indefinite period as the officers failed to resolve the issues.
