Stone crushers operating illegally in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, June 30: Several stone crushers are operating illegally in Ganderbal resulting in immense hardships to the residents of these areas.
Locals told that a stone-crusher in Arch area of district is running without any legal permission and no action is being initiated against the owner.
The unit, proximal to residential areas, has been causing air and noise pollution.
A stone crusher plant usually cuts rocks into different sizes of stones, mostly used on construction sites.
After cutting, the stones are loaded in trucks, resulting in a lot of dust. It has been proved in several circumstances that the stone crusher is among the biggest threats to environment.
Meanwhile, after the issue was brought into the notice of the officials in the district Ganderbal, they assured said that they will initiate action against the stone crushers that are operating illegally in the district.
There are few more crushers that are that operate illegally in other parts of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
District Mineral Officer Ganderbal, Manzoor Ahmed said that the stone crushers operating illegally in the district will be sealed without any delay.
He admitted that stone crushers are the source of pollution.
