Storekeeper, associate held with stolen items worth Rs 12 lakh

JAMMU, July 14: A storekeeper of a godown and his associate were arrested along with stolen electronic items worth Rs 12 lakh.
Superintendent of Police (SP) South Rahul Malik while interacting with media persons told that on July 1, 2014, Pancham Gupta of Channi Himmat gave a written complaint that items worth lakhs of rupees including ACs, washing machines, etc. have been stolen from his LG Godown in Gangyal.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No 87/14 under Section 381 and 411 was registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started, SP added.
Mr Malik disclosed that during investigation, Sahib Singh, son of Kuldeep Singh of Rehari Colony, who was working as a store keeper in the godown was apprehended and during questioning he said that he along with Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, son of Shiv Charan of Muthi committed the crime.
On their disclosure 80 LG ACs, 33 LG washing machines, 7 LG microwave ovens, 14 LED TVs and 3 refrigerators worth Rs 12 lakh were recovered from different parts in the city, he added.
During investigation it also came to fore that Sahib Singh was gradually taking out the items from the godown for the past 2 months without the knowledge of the owner, SP stated.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain their identity in other theft cases also.
The arrest was made by SHO Gangyal police station Noor Ahmed and SI Pawan Dogra, incharge Police Post Greater Kailash under the supervision of SDPO South Harjeet Singh, SP City South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
