JAMMU, Mar 1: The incredible stories of the families of martyrs are an example of grit, bravery, perseverance and achievements beyond belief.
This was stated by Member Parliament Tarun Vijay while interacting with family members of several martyrs in Uttarakhand. He said that the martyrs who sacrificed their life for the motherland are the first Gods to him and thus, visiting the families who saw their dearest one leaving them forever to serve Mother India is like a pilgrimage for him.
Ahead of his 64th birth anniversary which falls on 2nd March, Tarun Vijay visited a number of families of martyrs to take their blessings as he taken a vow to reach maximum number of martyr families in Uttarakhand before the War Memorial Shaurya Sthal is inaugurated in Dehradun.
Sharing his feelings after meeting with the martyrs’ families, the MP said wife of Martyr Mohan Lal Raturi (the Pulwama Martyr), took it upon herself to inspire her son Shri Ram to pursue his father’s dream to be an Army Officer and her daughter Vaishnavi is preparing for the IAS with a mission to eradicate corruption.
“On the other hand, Martyr Gajendra Singh Bisht’s 90-year old mother has a small temple built for Gajendra near her house to inspire new generation to follow his path and the nearby Government school, where Gajendra used to study, has the rare honour to display four portraits of martyrs, who are its alumni,” the MP added.
Vijay is also the Chairman of Uttarakhand War memorial which began with ‘Bhumi Poojan’ by the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in April 2016. Tarun Vijay is the only MP in India who gave Rs 2.38 crores from his MPLADS funds for the first Uttarakhand War Memorial Shaurya Sthal in public domain in Dehradun.
