JAMMU, Mar 2: A large number of stranded passengers from Kargil district held protest demonstration, followed by dharna outside Kargil House, on Railway Road here today.
They were demanding air-lifting of stranded passengers to Kargil. The agitating people led by PDP general secretary, Haji Qasim raised slogans against the Government and alleged that these passengers were agitating for the last three days but there was nobody to listen to their woes.
Social activist Sajjad Kargili extended his support to the protesters and urged upon the State Government to make arrangements for the air-lifting of stranded Kargil passengers in Jammu.
Speaking to the protesters Haji Qasim alleged that State has failed to address the grievances of the people of Kargil. Even the local leaders of the area have failed to project the issue and help their own people, he added.
Meanwhile, during the protest, Minister of State for IT, Sc Tech, Med & School Education, Youth Services & Sports, Feroz Khan arrived there and assured the protesters that IL-76 service of IAF is being arranged for stranded passengers on Monday. The protesters then suspended their agitation and dispersed.
