POONCH, Oct 5: A stray mad dog has bitten 18 people, causing serious injuries to some of them, at Sawjian village of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district.
Official sources said that a stray mad dog was roaming in Sawjian area and attacked at least 18 people of Sawjian area. The injured were removed to local Primary Health Centre for treatment.
They said that an infected stray dog has bitten several other dogs of the locality and now they are believed to have attacked locals. There was scare ion the area and the people have stopped moving out in the open. They were not even allowing their children to move out.
Dr Ali Mohd at PHC Sawjian said that 15 injured came to Primary Health Centre Sawjian initially, three came later and tally of injured has reached 18. All were treated here and later sent to home as the condition of all was stable.
Station House Officer Mandi said that they have intimated Wild Life Department officials and necessary action into the matter is being taken.
