JAMMU, Feb 15: The residents of Ward No. 67 Vasuki Vihar (Rajouri Lines ) behind Army Quarters face tough challenge and threat of stray dogs who have made the lives of inhabitants in the area as well as people passing through the inner link road leading to Kailash Vihar Kothey Netar risky as the stray dogs day in and day out bite the people as well as cause a great physical harm to them.
In a statement issued today by president Vasuki Vihar Welfare Committee and social activist, Vinod Pandita on behalf of the inhabitants of the area said that the residents of the Ward No. 67 of the area have lodged many complaints and written representation to the concerned wing of Municipal Corporation of Jammu five to six times earlier but till date no action has been taken by the ground staff due to unknown reasons and with the result a great resentment is brewing among the residents of this area for their non seriousness of the concerned agencies.
Pandita said that people are panicky as they are more concerned for the welfare of their small children who are unable to go outside for play due to the stray dog menace.
Pandita has appealed to the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to personally intervene into the matter and issue immediate directions to the concerned wing solely made for the purpose to address this public issue forthwith to save the people and children of the area from further harm and inconvenience caused due to stray dogs.
Pandita also added that the sanitation and hygienic condition of the area are also quite pathetic and poor for want of regular cleanliness and clearance of blocked drains and garbage filled lanes which also deserves an immediate humanitarian consideration as the area wholly falls under the jurisdiction of the Jammu Municipal Corporation .
