POONCH, Dec 14: The street lights in Mendhar town are lying defunct for the last nearly ten years as the concerned agencies, Rural development and Panchayati Raj Deptt and PDD have failed to get them repaired.
Locals of the town, especially the traders expressed resentment over the matter. They alleged that about a dozen large flood lights were installed at main points/ chowks in the main market by the agency but for the last ten years, all of these lights are lying out of order.
Panchayat Deptt which is responsible for cleanliness and street lights in the town has failed to get them repaired or replaced. They said that traders and general people of the town are facing problems due to it and darkness during nights, several thefts have taken place in the past 2-3 years. They demanded that street lights be restored in the town.
