JAMMU, Aug 14: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu today urged the Government to strengthen the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in order to encourage the nationalist forces, who have always stood by the nation in the odd and tough situations and countered the anti-national elements without caring for any threat or fear.
“The demand of disbanding VDCs, which is anti-national approach, needs to be rejected by all Indians including the Central as well as State Government”, the members of the Bar Association said unanimously in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj.
It was stressed upon the Government to assess the actual loss of the traders in Kishtwar and elsewhere in Jammu region and disburse compensation so that they can be rehabilitated at the earliest and restart their normal life. Further, it was called upon the Government to immediately appoint the Judge to head Judicial Commission, so that the Commission can start its proceedings in order to prevent destroying or tampering of the evidences by anybody.
