Strict action against those indulging in corrupt acts: Ramzan

SRINAGAR, June 3: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan today said that strict action would be taken against those officials who are involved in misappropriation of Government funds. He also directed intensifying recovery process from such officials and officers who have done such acts and caused loss to Government exchequer.
The Minister said this while chairing a review meeting of CA&PD Department to take stock of availability of essential commodities in the State.
Former Minister and MLA, Inderwal, G M Saroori also attended the meeting.
Reviewing the stock position of commodities in Chenab Valley, the Minister was informed that food-grains in these districts were received as per the projected population of 2001 censes, as a result there is a shortfall of ration in some areas of Kishtwar and Doda districts. He was assured that the department will meet out the shortfall out of the additional adhoc allocation to be provided by the Central Government.
The Minister asked the Director CAPD, Jammu to personally monitor the supply position on day to day basis and ensure buffer supply of commodities in far-flung and hilly areas of Jammu division.
The Minister asked the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to ensure ample supply and advance stocking of food-grain in far-flung areas which would help to provide ration to the needy people of these areas in time.
Secretary, CA&PD, Mr. Baseer Khan, Director CA&PD, Jammu, Mr. G.S. Chib and senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
