SRINAGAR: Lashing out at Doordarshan (DD) for allegedly not giving coverage to the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) belonging to the Opposition during the current Budget session, Speaker Kavinder Gupta today said strict action will be taken, if this practice is not changed.
The Speaker was responding to concerns expressed by the Opposition legislators that they are not getting the coverage on DD during the current Budget session.
“It is unfortunate that our members have been raising this issue that DD has not been giving them coverage. I once again direct DD and concerned department to change this practice or else I would be left with no option, but to take strict action,” Mr Gupta said.
The Opposition members alleged that the news bulletins telecast on DD doesn’t show their speeches or questions. “If there are four people sitting together and one of them is from opposition, only three are shown. It has happened for the first time that such practices have been adopted,” they alleged. (AGENCIES)
