JAMMU, Nov 28: SSP Traffic City Jammu Rohit Baskotra today held a meeting with the drivers/conductors, owners of matadors/mini buses of Janipur, Roop Nagar, Bantalab, Gharota and Aghore routes.
DySP Traffic City North, Tejinder Singh and other Traffic Police officials besides, President, Matador Union also attended the meeting.
The participants were asked to abide by the traffic rules/regulations besides the directions of J&K High Court issued in this regard from time to time have to be followed in letter and spirit.
It was further informed that mini bus operators will not play tape recorders in their vehicles, wear prescribed uniform, carry all relevant documents required under MV Act especially valid driving license, reserve seats for women/ physically challenged commuters, ensure pick and drop service practice only at identified/designated matador stands, ply on roads as per the route permit; not indulge in overloading, not to park their vehicles on the road anywhere, obey lane driving and maintain the gap to avoid congestion, park their vehicles in an orderly manner at designated stands only for boarding and de-boarding, avoid rash/negligent driving/overtaking practice, avoid drunken driving and not to indulge in unnecessary arguments with traffic cops/general public.
SSP Traffic suggested the owners of matadors/minibuses to engage their drivers on monthly salary basis as it has been observed that most of the drivers are changed on daily basis which defects the purpose of day to day briefings.
