JAMMU, Nov 18: Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has directed all the Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Heads of the Departments and Managing Directors of Public Sector Undertakings to ensure strict implementation of State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act.
The State Emblem of India is an adaptation of the Sarnath Lion capital of Asoka and is the official seal of the Government of India. The design of State Emblem is provided in the Schedule of the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005 read with State Emblem of India (Regulation of Use) Rules, 2007 restricts its usage to certain authorities and purposes.
However, it has been observed that some individuals and authorities in violation of these elaborate rules/instructions are using the State Emblem on the stationery and vehicles etc and this has been viewed very seriously by the Government.
Accordingly, the Government has impressed upon all the the Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Heads of the Departments and Managing Directors of Public Sector Undertakings to ensure implementation of State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act in letter and spirit.
It is pertinent to mention here that violation of provisions of Act is punishable with imprisonment and fine.
