Strong quake hits far eastern Russia: USGS

MOSCOW, June 24: A 6.1 magnitude quake today hit Russia’s far eastern coast, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck at 11:15 am (0315 GMT) on the coast of the Kamchatka peninsula, about 580 kilometres north-northeast of the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 17 kilometres, the USGS said. (AGENCIES)
