SRINAGAR, Nov 2: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said that Jammu and Kashmir is at the crossroads of historic opportunity to mark a new beginning and the winds of change have already set in right from Salamabad to Lakhanpur. She said there is a strong wave building for PDP given its pro-people agenda.
“The Lok Sabha elections have already laid the foundations for the momentous political transformation and people across the length and breadth of the State want to conclude this process by bringing about the much-needed change of the Government in Jammu and Kashmir”, she said while addressing election rally in Lolab Assembly segment of Kupwara district.
“I am here today seeking votes not just to form the next Government in the State, but enlist support for putting in place a PDP regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that has the commitment and the consistency to deliver on its agenda of ensuring larger political and economic welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, she asserted.
She stated that the people shall have to exercise their franchise more effectively and decisively in the upcoming Assembly elections to shape a new and bright future for the State.
“The agenda of PDP could to a large extent respond to the complex problems of the State, faced as it is with decades’ long political uncertainty, development deficit, unfulfilled aspirations, mounting unemployment, corruption, nepotism and favoritism”, Mehbooba added.
“We hope that people would judge us on our performance during our brief stint in the Government, in Opposition and on the basis of the agenda of change that we placed before them”, she said.
PDP candidate for Lolab Assembly segment Abdul Haq Khan and other party leaders also addressed the rally.
