BHADARWAH, Oct 15: In a tragic incident here today, a 17 year old student of Kashtigarh Higher Secondary School drowned in Thanthera River while he was on a school picnic with his colleagues.
Immediately after the victim Zahid drowned in the river, a rescue operation was launched with Ababeel rescuers and local volunteers for over two hours to retrieve the body.
SHO Bhadarwah, Sandeep Parihar, remained at the site to personally monitor the rescue operation.
After the body was recovered, it was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Bhadarwah for further legal and medical procedures.
Though the incident has left the school community and locals gloomed, authorities concerned have urged for greater caution at local water bodies, especially during school excursions.
