Students call off indefinite hunger strike

DODA, Oct 20: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Farooq Ahmed Khan today announced starting of PG Classes in the Government Degree College (GDC) from the forthcoming session.
After the announcement by the DC, students under the banner of All India Students Federation (AISF) called off their 15 days long indefinite hunger strike.
Deputy Commissioner visited the dharna site, made the announcement and offered juice to the students, sitting on hunger strike.
The students under the banner of AISF led by its district president, Mukesh Parihar, were sitting on indefinite hunger strike and were demanding starting of PG Classes in Doda Campus, University of Jammu, appointment of Rector at Doda Campus, starting of Commerce stream in GDC, hostels for Boys and Girls at district headquarters and implementation of half fare charges to students.
It is to mention that, during the indefinite hunger strike, four members of the federation Koshal Sharma, general secretary, Mohd Saleem, vice president, Vipen Singh and Hem Raj, committee members, were hospitalized.
