JAMMU, Sept 30: Students continued their agitation and held a massive protest demonstration outside Cluster University campus for admission to all the aspirants.
The protesting students also tried to block the Canal road thus inviting Police action and scuffle with the cops. Police also detained eight students and took them to the Police Post Canal road. One student Rahul Sharma also got injuries during the protest, which was led by Atul Sudan, State Vice President of Jammu Joint Students Federation), Anshu Sharma, Parteek Raina, Piyush and others.
Addressing the gathering of admission seekers, Parteek Raina said that it was very unfortunate that instead of increasing the capacity of the city colleges, the administration was hell-bent to suppress the student community of Duggar region, which is demanding only admission for further studies.
“Capacity of the city colleges was almost 15000 which has been reduced to 6000 for this session. Students who have passed their higher secondary examinations have every right to take admission in the colleges for further studies,” he said.
The protesting students appealed Lieutenant Governor to intervene and save the future of thousands of students who have passed with good percentage in their 12th class examinations by declaring admissions open for all pass out students. They further warned Higher Education Department and administration Cluster University Jammu that they will take this agitation to all districts and colleges making it a mass movement if their demand is not conceded.
