KATHUA, Nov 14: A group of girl students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua today met the SSP Kathua, Shridhar Patil and informed him about the harassment meted out to them while coming to school in the morning and after the closure of school in the afternoon through the hands of urchins in the area.
The delegation said that some road Romeos on two wheelers always harass them and indulge in eve teasing both during morning and afternoon time. They have made their life miserable and in case this practice does not stop they will be forced to discontinue the schooling.
The girl students alleged that they brought the issue in the notice of school authorities also a number of times but to no avail which forced them to make the complaint with him. They demanded installation of CCTVs in the area besides posting of police personnel to man the area and keep the road Romeos at bay.
They said it is unfortunate that when the Police Station is in the vicinity of the School how these youth dare to harass the girl students in the area and the concerned police station has so far not taken the cognizance of the same. The SSP assured the girls that drastic steps will be taken to curtail their activities in future and police force will be deployed in the area.
