JAMMU, Mar 2: For the legal exposure, MIET School of Law arranged two day visit of its students to Supreme Court of India.
The tour was arranged for twenty students and two senior faculty members.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, highlighted the importance of such experiential learning endeavors and commended the School of Law for facilitating activities that extend beyond traditional classroom settings.
He reaffirmed the MIET School of Law’s vision to establish itself as a premier institution in the region by providing top-tier infrastructure, curriculum, value-added courses, and international career opportunities.
During their visit, the students observed live court proceedings, explored the Justice’s library, and engaged with senior advocates. They witnessed hearings in various courtrooms, noting the range of ongoing legal debates before the Supreme Court.
Additionally, the students toured the Supreme Court Museum containing ancient courtroom replicas and artefacts significant to legal, historical, and archaeological studies. The museum’s modern galleries, showcasing collections related to justice, law, crime, and punishment, provided an educational yet engaging experience, sparking the imaginations of the budding law students.
The students acquired an understanding of the Supreme Court’s original, appellate, advisory jurisdictions and how these frameworks safeguard citizens’ fundamental rights and resolve disputes among different government tiers.
Additionally, the students participated in a guided exploration of the Apex court, gaining insights into its operations and procedural nuances.
The student group also visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the new Parliament of India complex including the upper and lower houses. This educational trip was in line with the New Education Policy, which prioritizes experiential learning as a fundamental aspect of formal education.
