JAMMU, Jan 2: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar today interacted with the group of students and professionals from various parts of country, who called on him on the campus this evening.
During the interaction, the VC informed about off site campuses established in various areas of the Jammu region for providing higher learning to the students at their door steps. He also dwelt upon the courses being offered by the University, which is endaevouring to introduce job-oriented courses so that the pass out face the competitive world with more confidence and vigour.
The Vice- Chancellor replied to the queries of the group, ranging from States’ culture, festivals, languages, scenic spots and potential in tourism etc.
Among others present included Prof Desh Bandhu, Maj Amit Mann and Maj Kartik.
The group of 20 students and professionals is on a National Integration Tour to Jammu and Kashmir under the programme “Sarhad Ki Aur” organized by 39 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army.
The group comprises of students and professionals from various disciplines like Dentistry, Architecture, Mass Communication and Fashion Designing. The students were on a seven days visit to J&K. During their visit, the group visited Surankot, Budda Amarnath Shrine, Chakkan-Da-Bagh and various other places and interacted with the students of various colleges of the region. .
Indian Army has traditionally organized tours for children hailing from remote areas of J&K so as to enable them to witness the progress, prosperity and the development which has taken place in the other States of the country. These tours have served a dual purpose of providing an exposure to these lesser privileged children and have also provided an avenue to spread a message of national integration and unity.
