Students, parents stage protest against shortage of teaching staff

DODA, Mar 27: The students of Government High School Mallana Dessa along with their parents staged protest against Government and Education Department for their failure to provide adequate teaching staff.
Carrying placards, hundreds of students pursuing their education in Government High School Mallana Dessa assembled outside DC office here today and raised slogans in favour of their demands. They also blocked the vehicular movement outside DC office.
“Around 350 students study in this institution and only 5 teachers are available to them. Three posts of teachers are lying vacant”, said protesting students.
The protesting students said due to shortage of teachers their precious time is being wasted. They said whenever they met the educational authorities they assured them of doing the needful but they do nothing.
They appealed to DC Doda and higher authorities in the Education Department to provide required staff in the institution, so that their students don’t get affected.
“On one side the Government is claiming that it will provide proper education to children especially of rural area but on the grounds, their claim has been proved false and fake”, said one of the parents while talking to media persons.
After getting information, SDPO Headquarters Doda Iftikhar Hussain and SHO Doda Inspector Manjeet Singh rushed to the spot and assured the protesting students and their parents of taking up the matter with the higher authorities for redressal.
On the assurance, the protesting students along with their parents dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Bhawani Rakhwal told the EXCELSIOR that in the institution, there was shortage of two teachers, which they have fulfilled.
“CEO Doda Mohammad Sharif Choudhary has been directed for posting of two more teachers in the said institution, which he had done”, he added.
“We don’t want students to suffer on account of shortage of staff and so accordingly two teachers have been posted in the institution”, he asserted.
