BHADERWAH, Aug 11: Aggrieved over denial of admission in the College, a number of under graduate students of Chenab valley,  who have cleared first year backlog in 2016, held a protest demonstration, here today.
The protest was held in the premises of Government  Degree College Bhaderwah and these students were demanding regular admission in Part II. They criticized Jammu University for issuing the circular, according to which the students with break can not be given regular admission.
The protesting students lamented that even Medical students have been asked to complete their studies through the Distance Mode of Education. They appealed the  JU authorities  to  merge them in semester system.
“We are not in a position to take admission in other private colleges outside State . All our hopes have been dashed and our future is in stake now. We demand admissions as regular student in 2nd year as it were closed due to unknown reasons,” they said.
Citing lack of infrastructure in colleges, the JU, through a circular, has asked such  students to complete their courses through distance mode or take admission in their respective colleges as casual students. “The undergraduate students who have passed their first year backlog examinations in 2016 cannot be admitted in semester system or a separate batch on annual basis due to inadequate infrastructure available in colleges” says the circular issued by Assistant Registrar (Admissions), Jammu University.
It further says that ‘such candidates may seek admissions either in their respective colleges as casual students or in DDE as the case may be.
As per the circular, the decision has been taken by a committee constituted by the Nodal Principal, Science College Jammu which held its meeting on June 10, 2016.
