JAMMU, Mar 6: Agitating against excessive use of Police force and subjecting them to lathicharge during a protest near Rehari Chungi on March 4, Class 12th students from different institutions today took out a protest march and blocked ever busy Bikram Chowk for some time.
Amidst raising of slogans against J&K Police and JK BOSE, the protesting students assembled near the Exhibition ground and then marched towards Bikram Chowk. They were demanding action against the Police officers, allegedly responsible for `un-necessary’ use of force against them alleged manhandling even the girl students.
They were also reiterating their demand for either grace marks or re-conduct of the examination of Physics paper, which was out of pattern.
Even as the protesting students blocked ever busy Bikram Chowk for some time thus disrupting vehicular movement there, Police maintained a restraint and the protested dispersed off peacefully later on.
Meanwhile, reports from Reasi and other parts of Jammu region said that similar protests were held against the March 4 incident of Police lathicharge on students.
At Reasi, the protest march was taken out by ABVP activists and students, who assembled at Zanana Park and then marched towards the Main Bazar. Amidst raising of slogans against the SHO Pacca Danga and demanding his immediate suspension, the protest march culminated at Bus Stand where they also torched an effigy of the Police officer, allegedly responsible for brutal use of force on the students.
They were also seeking clarification from JKBOSE over status of the students’ demand for either grace marks or re-conduct of the exam.
