RAJOURI, Oct 11: The students of Government Degree College Kotranka today held strong protest demanding early completion of college building at the town.
They were raising loud slogans against LG’s Administration and BJP besides Higher Education authorities for not providing building for the college which was sanctioned about 5-6 years ago.
They pointed out that a degree college was opened in Kotranka in 2019 and from day one the college is functioning in two rooms of a school building. The school don’t have sufficient building to accommodate the students of School and College and student of college and School both are suffering badly.
Along with students parents were also seen at the protest venue. The protestors told that from last many years administration is just doing photo shoots on the name of land acquisition for college and they added that they have approached administration a number of times but they got nothing. The students told that due to some unknown reasons no land is identified till now by administration and they are just spoiling the career of student.
They raised question over the failure of administration as despite of such a long time they have not yet finalised the land for the building of college. When most of schools don’t have infrastructure for school then how a college can function from a School for years.
The protesting students told that Government isn’t concerned about the future of students and at the same time some people are doing politics on the name of college building and no one is concerned about the future of students. On one hand Government is claiming huge claims on the name of development and at the same time they aren’t able to identify land for a college and 300 students are in college functioning in two rooms of School.
Students and parents raised slogans even against District administration Rajouri for its failure. They sought intervention of Lt Governor and requested to take immediate steps to identify land for college in Kotranka as student from poor families are pursuing their degrees from this college.
