Students protest, demand exemplary punishment to accused

BHADERWAH, Apr 16: The students of Government Post Graduate (PG) Degree College staged a protest and took out a rally demanding exemplary punishment to alleged accused in Rasana rape and murder case.
The protest was organized at Government PG Degree College here, from where a rally was taken out, in which large number of students participated.
Carrying placards, the protesters marched through various bazaars while raising slogans against the Government and seeking justice for Rasana victim.
“We want the Government to shift this case to special court so that the justice prevails. We have full faith in the constitution and courts of the country, but we want justice to be given as soon as possible and create an example so that such heinous acts are not done again’, said Almas Malik, a college student.
Malik stated that the nation needs to join hands for a change, the law makers need to bring a change in the constitution and harsh laws are needed so that such things don’t get repeated.
The protesting students also demanded transfer of Asifa case to Fast track Court Doda and proceedings should be held under camera observation.
They said that religion and politics should not be made a barrier in delivering justice to the victims. The Government should take strict action against the rapists, they added.
Later, students from Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School also joined the protest and sought justice for Rasana rape and murder victim.
