Students protest, demand postponement of 2nd semester exams

BHADERWAH, May 18: The students of Post Graduate College took out a protest rally against the authorities of Jammu University (JU) and blocked all link roads at Lakshmi Narayan Chowk while demanding postponement of 2nd semester exams.
Students took out a rally which started from Government Degree College and after passing through various areas and culminated at Lakshmi Narayan Chowk, where they held strong protest and demonstration to show their resentment over the attitude of higher authorities.
The protest was led by student leaders Amir Manzoor and Vishal Manhas.
All the protesting students in one voice demanded postponement of exams.
While speaking, student leader Amir Manzoor alleged that the session of 2nd semester of Chenab valley region has started from March 10 and the rest of colleges have started their session on January 6. The date sheet of whole Jammu Division has been scheduled for same date which is injustice to the students of Chenab valley, he added.
“It is our third protest against concerned authorities regarding postponement of 2nd semester exams but no one bothered about our genuine demand”, Manzoor alleged and adding that authorities had turned deaf ears to their problems.
While speaking, Vishal Manhas warned the University authorities to postpone the exams of 2nd semester otherwise face a strong agitation and protest by the students of whole Chenab valley outside Jammu University.
Tehsildar Bhaderwah Dr Amir Hussain and SDPO Bhaderwah Sardar Sajjad Ahmed Khan met the agitating students and convinced them to have a meeting with SDM Bhaderwah Mohammad Anwar Banday where they apprised him (SDM) about the whole matter of injustice with the students of Chenab valley.
SDM Bhaderwah assured them to take the matter with concerned authorities for early redressal.
