SAMBA, Oct 5: Students of Government Higher Secondary School Mansar staged a protest demonstration today against the shortage of teaching staff in the School.
The protesting students blocked the Samba –Mansar road for over one hour and raised slogans against the Government in general and Education Department in particular. The alleged that there is a shortage of physics and Botany teachers in the School for last two months and their career was at stake due to the callousness of the Education Department which is delaying the process of appointing teachers.
They said that despite the repeated pleas to the Education Department, no initiative has been taken by them so far. Later senior officials of the Education Department reached the spot and pacified the students. They assured them that their demand will be redressed soon.
The students however warned that in case the teachers were not posted within a week they will resort to indefinite agitation with the support of local people of the area.
