Students Speak

Prakriti Sambyal, Komal Thakur, Rashmi Devi Students of University of Jammu Department of Journalism and Media Studies have spoken to a section of students to know their opinion on the functioning of Indian Parliament during the first session of 18th Parliament.

No mud slinging

After the election result we have witnessed a heated exchange between the NDA and Opposition during the motion of thanks to the president’s address. While the Congress aims to sustain momentum, the Bharatiya Janata Party remains resolute not to concede further ground. Rahul Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition, spoke for issues like inflation, unemployment, NEET scam, minimum support price for the farmers and Agniveer scheme. In response to that PM Modi delivered the concluding remarks in his speech. But the debate was very disappointing as BJP leaders neglected the discussion around their agenda for next five years. Also the opposition failed to engage the debate in constructive criticism and effectively address the issues like NEET,MSP, Agniveer.
Both sides instead resorted to mudslinging to each other and not realizing that the election is over. It is high time that the opposition should start cornering the government and criticizing their ideas and also the ruling government should priortise the welfare of farmers, students and the peasants of the country.

Political Blame Game Disappoints

Recent Parliament sessions are disappointing. Politicians are accusing each other instead of focusing on people’s problems. The new Government has a big responsibility to fulfill its promises. However, concerns like corruption and unfair practices need attention. Opposition parties should reflect and improve instead of making false claims. Indians deserve better than this political fighting. As a citizen, I want our leaders to work together to fix the economy, jobs, healthcare, education, and security issues.

Parliamentary Storm

The 18th Lok Sabha has seen significant developments, including Rahul Gandhi’s appointment as Leader of Opposition, a post vacant for 10 years. However, his first speech sparked controversy, with allegations against RSS, BJP, and Hindus, criticized by BJP leaders, including PM Modi. The oath-taking ceremony witnessed debates and slogan-raising, including “Jai Samvidhan” and “Jai Hindu Rashtra”. The paper leak and NEET scam have been hotly debated, with Rahul Gandhi and others questioning the Government’s credibility.
The 18th Lok Sabha has begun with a mix of positive and controversial developments. While Rahul Gandhi’s appointment as Leader of Opposition is a step towards a vibrant democracy, his controversial speech and the debates during the oath-taking ceremony raise concerns about the tone of the parliament. The paper leak and NEET scam debates highlight the need for accountability and transparency. Let’s hope the Parliament focuses on constructive debates and works towards the betterment of the country.

Rahul’s Remarks Spark Religious Row

In a recent Parliamentary session, Rahul Gandhi’s comments have sparked controversy as he allegedly made remarks that were perceived as insulting to the Hindu community. The statements have garnered strong reactions from various quarters, highlighting the sensitivity of religious sentiments in public discourse.
The parliamentarians must conduct themselves properly and not indulge in fist fighting. These measures are intended to address the situation appropriately and uphold standards of respectful dialogue in public forums.

Religion Must Unite, Not Divide

Rahul Gandhi, as the Leader of Opposition, has presented the opposition in a highly encouraging and motivating manner. Current Government has emphasized the importance of religious ethics and urged the opposition to uphold them. In my opinion, this issue is crucial and needs to be addressed immediately, as we are seeing youth involved in violence in the name of religion, which is totally unacceptable.
They are motivated by fake propaganda, which needs to be deciphered, and one should have the discretion to refrain from fighting in the name of religion. India has always been a land of compassion and love, welcoming to all. However, Indians are now fighting among themselves, which must be corrected. India’s spirit lies in its unity in diversity, and we must respect and follow this. Let us eliminate hate and violence, and instead, embrace love, compassion, and unity.

India’s Democracy Strengthened as Opposition Finds Its Voice

After a decade of weak opposition, the 18th Lok Sabha has seen a significant shift with a strong Opposition (234 seats) and a recognized Leader of the Opposition (LoP). The opposition has raised critical issues like Manipur, NEET, Minimum Support Price, and Agniveer, and held the Government accountable. The slogan “Justice for Manipur” was raised during the PM’s speech. A strong opposition is essential in a democracy, and Rahul Gandhi’s leadership could be a game-changer. Both the Government and opposition must understand their duties and work for the people’s welfare, or risk insulting the public verdict.”
The resurgence of a strong opposition in the 18th Lok Sabha is a positive development for Indian democracy. It’s crucial for the Government and opposition to engage in meaningful debates and work together for the country’s welfare. Let’s hope this shift marks a new era of constructive politics in India.
