JAMMU, Sept 14: Students of Government Higher Secondary School, Jagti Nagrota, their parents, besides inmates of the Jagti Camp today held a protest demonstration against shortage of teaching staff in the school.
The protest was led by president of Jagti Tenement Committee, Shadi Lal Pandita, who in his address said that despite the fact that Education Department has posted sufficient staff to the GHSS, Jagti Nagrota, but it is unfortunate that most of the staff have not joined the school on lame excuses and false medical grounds.
The shortage of the staff has been adversely affecting the studies of the students, he added and appealed the authorities concerned for ensuring proper attendance of the teachers, so that the students may not suffer any more.
The students also demanded to post lecturers or masters for subjects of political science, EVs, Physical Education, Computer Science, Hindi, Urdu etc on priority basis in the school.
Moreover the power curtailments during school hours right from 9am to 2 pm has rendered the students unable to continue their studies smoothly during these hot and humid days, the parents of the students maintained.
The protestors demanded the Government to ensure 16 hours power supply to the Camp to facilitate the students of smooth studies and inmates of the Camp to overcome the present sufferings.
Shadi Lal Pandita further raised the issue of early completion of construction of 40-bedded Hospital in the Camp and restoration of ration supplies in the Ration Depots of the Camp to mitigate the sufferings of the inmates. He warned the Government that the community would be forced to come on roads if their demands were not settled soon.
