Students’ talent programme ‘Udaan’ begins at CUJ

JAMMU, Jan 20: Three-day students’ talent programme ‘Udaan’ begun today at Central University of Jammu.
In Rangoli competition nine teams, comprising four members each, participated. With the help of colours, flower petals, food grains, the participants gave colour to their creativeness on various themes, including “Save the Earth”, Global Warming, Welcome, Save the Girl Child, Udaan scheme, etc.
The participants in the poetry recitation competition, majority of whom were amateur, tried their best to give words to their ideas and mesmerized the audience. Thought provoking poem, “Yeh Kalam, Yeh Davat, Yeh Seyahi, Preshan Ho Jayeen, Agar Mere Hath Ki Ungaliyan, Hindu Ya Musalman Ho Jayen”, by Hakim Singh, M.Phill scholar from Department of Public Policy, explained about hovering communal threat across the country.
Preeti, Parvinder Kour, Nirmal Kumari, Submeet Choudhary, Vanshika Sharma, Niharika Sharma, Mohib-ul-Hassan, Rajinder, Mohammad Altaf, Priyanka, Himmat Sharma, Samiksha, Deepanjali, Daman Deep, Munish Ranjan, Himmat were the students, who participated in the poetry recitation competition. Registrar of CUJ, Jeet Singh also recited a Punjabi poem, ‘Rukh’.
Nearly one dozen students participated in the solo song competition.
Earlier, Prof D R Gupta inaugurated the event and stressed upon the importance of co-curricular activities, apart from studies for the overall development of students. He motivated the students by citing episodes from the life of great scientist, Sir Essac Newton.
Prof N R. Sharma, Dean Student’s Welfare, delivered the welcome address. Jit Singh Registrar, Dr P S Pathania, Senior Consultant, Prof Shyam Singh, Prof H S Sehgal, Nodal Officer Communication and Linkages Cell, Deans, Heads of the Departments, Faculty & students were present in the function.
