Submit plan for rehabilitation of Dal dwellers: DB

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking restoration of Dal lake to its original position, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar has directed the Vice Chairman of the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to inform the court about plan chalked out for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed, “the status report has been filed by the J&K State Pollution Control Board and M M Shah, Legal Advisor of the Board is present in person”, adding “as per the Legal Advisor certain samples which have been taken to ascertain the status of pollution levels are under analysis and reports will be filed before this court”.
As no report was filed by the Lakes and Waterways Developm-ent Authority, the DB, keeping in view the submissions of Senior AAG, directed that the same be filed within two days. “We have been informed that the Committee of Experts is holding a meeting in Delhi day after tomorrow and the minutes of the meeting/Action Taken Report be placed before us on the next date of hearing”, the DB said.
