“Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were very special and significant as these were held for the first time since fully implementation of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s Constitution there and granting of voting rights to those who were deprived of the same for the last seven decades,” he said while addressing the party workers at BJP headquarters in New Delhi after declaration of election results for Haryana and J&K Assemblies.
As BJP registered its best ever performance in Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister congratulated his party and appreciated efforts of the party workers.
“Even as J&K people have given more seats to National Conference and its ally, BJP has emerged as biggest party in terms of vote share,” he said and complimented the party workers for their hard work.

Congratulating people of J&K for their participation in the polls, Shah said for the first time since the advent of terrorism in the 1980s, the people of the Union Territory witnessed such a “transparent and peaceful” election and participated in the elections in large numbers.
“The people of J&K remember the 1987 Assembly elections very well, when the Congress made a mockery of democracy by openly rigging the elections. Democracy has now been revived in the same Kashmir valley,” he said in a series of post on X in Hindi.
Shah said Prime Minister Modi had promised the people of the country that peaceful and fair elections will be conducted in J&K. “I am extremely happy that for the first time since the advent of terrorism in the 1980s, the people of J&K witnessed such a transparent and peaceful election and participated in the elections in large numbers.
Amit Shah also congratulated the Election Commission, J&K administration, security forces and the people of J&K for these successful and historic elections.
The senior BJP leader said in J&K, there was only “reign of terror and democracy was being murdered every day” under the Congress rule, but the great festival of democracy was celebrated with full pomp and gaiety under the BJP rule.
“People elected their representatives without any fear of terror and panic. Heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for this unprecedented change,” he said.
