Sudesh Raj’s book of short stories released

JAMMU, June 5: A book of Dogri short stories ‘Duathan’, written by Sudesh Raj, was released today by Prof R D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu, in an on-line programme organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
Prof Veena Gupta introduced the book by presenting a critical appreciation of the stories contained in the book. She said that the outstanding quality of the book is the keen observation of life by the author and sublet in her writing style.
Sudesh Raj a renowned Dogri writer and translator of high merit, who is the author of the book, shared some interesting anecdotes of her literary journey and read one story from the collection. She also informed the audience that it was the birth date of her Late husband Raj Raina, to whom the book has been dedicated.
Prof R D Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, complimented Sudesh Raj for the high quality of her work and said that the stories in the book are based on reality and each of the story conveys a social and psychological message. He also appreciated Dogri Sanstha for organizing such literary programmes even during the time of the pandemic and for providing platform to the writers to showcase their works.
Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha, said that the Sanstha is trying to keep the literary activities alive by organizing various programmes on digital media like WhatsApp and virtual on-line functions. He pointed out that Sudesh Raj has penned down, in a masterly manner, some stories on complicated issues relating to the phenomenon of children growing into the adulthood. He said the book is an important addition to Dogri fiction.
Prof Shashi Pathania, Vice President of Dogri Sanstha, anchored and conducted the proceeding. She made some very valuable and scholarly comments on the released book. Pawan Verma provided the technical support for hosting the programme on-line.
