SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Religious leaders who gathered today here at the ‘Sadbhavna’ conference, advocated for the spread of the true message of Islam, which revolves around love, compassion, and brotherhood.

The conference was organized by the Indian Minority Community Foundation at SKICC and was attended by LG Manoj Sinha, along with religious leaders from across Kashmir.
Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, who also attended the event, emphasized that Sufis were the ones who propagated the genuine message of Islam, with a special focus on promoting brotherhood. He asserted that Sufism embodies the true spirit of Islam.
“The spirit of Islam is tasawuf (Sufism); we cannot achieve peace and brotherhood unless we follow and adhere to the principles of tasawuf, as propagated by the Sufis. Those associated with tasawuf are the ones who spread the actual message of Islam, Allah, and the Prophet,” he said.
He stressed the urgent need to make people aware of the true message of Islam, which revolves around brotherhood and compassion.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, the event organizer, while speaking to the media, stated that the conference was organized with the vision of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.’
He explained that the sole purpose of the conference was to convey the message of love and compassion from the Valley of Sufis to the rest of the country and the world.
“These programs will be held from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and we have started from here today. We have seen excellent examples of Sufism and Kashmiriyat here, and we will ensure that the same message is carried forward,” he said, adding that Kashmir is an integral part of India, and there is a need to share the essence of Sufism with the world.
Another participant, Haji Sayed Salman Chisti from Ajmer Sharif, mentioned that the event was a significant occasion where Sufism and Kashmiriyat were discussed with the aim of ensuring that the message of Sufism, Kashmiriyat, and Insaniyat reaches the world and the rest of the country.
“Sufism teaches love and care, and at the same time, it teaches how to effectively interact with people. It has changed hearts and minds and needs to be spread further,” he said.
Peerzada Shahid Jeelani Makhdoomi of Makhdoom Sahib shrine, also present at the event, emphasized that the message carried by Sufism is much needed in the present world.
“Sufism teaches peace, love and brotherhood, and this is what the world needs. The message must be shared with the world and the rest of the country for the betterment of people,” he said.
