Sugar prices down on persistent supply, limited off-take

NEW DELHI, Oct 19:  Sugar prices fell by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following persistent arrivals from mills for festive season amid selective buying.

Marketmen said steady inflow of supplies from mills against muted demand from stockists and bulk consumers ahead of Diwali festival, mainly led to fall in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,900-4,150 and Rs 3,890-4,140 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also moved down by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 3,580-3,800 and Rs 3,570-3,790 per quintal respectively.

In the millgate section, sugar dhampur eased by Rs 20 at Rs 3,610, followed by asmoli, dhanora, khatuli,ramala and chandpur shed Rs 10 each to Rs 3,790, Rs 3,640,Rs 3,800 and rest both at Rs 3,600 each per quintal.
