NEW DELHI, June 28: Sugar prices recovered by up to 50 paise per kg at the wholesale and retail markets today largely on the back of increased demand from retailers and bulk consumers amid fall in supplies from millers.
In the national capital’s retail market, sugar prices traded higher 50 paise at Rs 39 to Rs 40 per kg.
Marketmen said recovery in the sweetener prices was mostly aided by pick up in demand from bulk consumers on the back of rising mercury against restricted supplies from millers.
Nearly 6,500 bags arrived in the wholesale market as against yesterday’s 7,000 bags.
At the wholesale market, in the sugar mill gate section, Kinnoni traded 50 paise higher at Rs 34.20 per kg, while Dorala up by 30 paise to Rs 33.60 per kg.
Budhana recovered by 40 paise to Rs 33.50 per kg, while Sakoti gained 10 paise to Rs 33.20 per kg.
