POONCH, Nov 8: In a dramatic incident inside the District Jail Poonch, an inmate namely- Joginder Singh alias Jogdh Singh, son of Karan Singh a resident of Jammu, attempted suicide this evening.
The incident sounded alert and sent shockwaves in the jail premises, but quick action by the Jail staff averted a suicide.
The police said Joginder Singh alias Jogdh Singh attempted to end his life under unknown circumstances. However, the alert jail staff swiftly intervened, rescuing him from a critical situation. The police personnel immediately shifted him to the Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital in Poonch, where doctors promptly provided him treatment.
Medical sources confirmed that Jogdh Singh was rushed to the hospital’s operation theater, where he was provided emergency treatment. Hospital officials reported that his condition is currently stable, and he is under close observation of the medical team.
The reasons behind jail inmate’s drastic step remain unclear, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. Sources indicate that the jail administration is also reviewing security protocols to prevent such occurrences in future.
This incident has raised concerns about the mental well-being of inmates and the need for enhanced support systems within detention facilities.
