Sukhnandan asks PDD to improve power scenario

JAMMU, Nov 2 : Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation & Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today asked the Power Development Department to improve power scenario in Marh by up-grading the transmission distribution networking to facilitate farmers using irrigation pumps.
He asked the department to replace the existing  transformers with higher capacity to augment pump irrigation.
The Minister instructed PDD to install three high capacity transformers under Border Area Development Programme at Makwal, Toph Manhasan and Thalwal. He was responding to the demands raised by the people during his visit to Tawi island in Marh.
The Minister also chaired a public meeting at Makwal camp where the people apprised him about their problems. They demanded replacement of old electric poles and blacktopping of all the roads in the area.
The Minister also inspected the Wheat Procurement Centre at Sohanjana and directed the Agriculture Department to keep the Mandi functional round the clock so that farmers can take full benefit of the facility.
He said that the PDD would also be asked to ensure round the clock power supply to the procurement centre.
