KATHUA, Oct 4: In continuation of campaign in favour of the new farm laws passed in the Parliament and against the disinformation spread out by the opposition parties regarding these laws, former Minister, Ex-MLA, Marh and Chairman Panchayati Raj Cell, BJP J&K UT, Sukhnandan Kumar, attended an impressive function at Hiranagar in Kathua district today. He cautioned farming community of the border belt against the political parties spreading misinformation regarding these historical laws.
He said through these historic Farm Bills the Government has tried to remove the role of the “middleman” for making agricultural sector in India as “Atamanirbhar”.
“We hope that B2V3 model become a land mark initiative provided blocks are considered as fulcrum instead of districts,” he added.
On the occasion, he strongly opposed the 9%of the Token Tax imposed by the Transport Department on tractors, where as there was an exemption of Token Tax on tractors earlier which were used for the agricultural purpose. He urged the Government to immediately withdraw the decision of imposing Token Tax on tractors used by the farming community. “Modi Government at the Centre is trying hard to help farming community, but on the contrary UT Government is harassing the community by imposing such taxes”, he asserted.
He also criticized the Finance Department of J&K which provides five percent interest rebate on all business loans from April this year but excluding the Kissan Credit Card (KCC) category. He forcefully advocated for the full interest waiving of all the KCC loans in the UT.
He demanded that limit of the KCC’s without mortgage should be 5.00 lakh which is 3.00 lakh at present. He also sought exemption of Stamp Duty on all the agricultural related loans and advances in the UT.
Ex-vice chairman, OBC Board, Rashpal Verma also spoke on the occasion and asked the Government to provide compensation to the farmers who are cultivating land across the fencing on the border, which has not been given from last 12 years.
