JAMMU, Oct 30: Former Minister & MLA Marh, Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary today said that the State Government is keen to enable the farmers to get handsome value of their products & that is why the Government has increased the number of procurement centres to facilitate them.
HE was speaking after inaugurating two Paddy Procurement Centres at Village Sohajana & Parladhpur (Tawi island area) in Marh Constituency. He asserted that the motive behind opening of these centres was to ensure that farmers must get at least Minimum Support Price (MSP) at their doorsteps by by-passing the middleman. He informed that Government has approved rate of Rs.1550 for China and Rs.1590 for Radnage paddy respectively which will be procured by the Food Corporation of India. “Government is eyeing to procure maximum paddy and where to lower down its dependency on other states, he added.
He also informed that after R.S.Pura, Marh constituency is the area which is a main contributory of paddy crop in Jammu district. Officials of Agricultural department including SDO, R.S Jamwal, Arun Makhnotra, Sanjay Dhar and a large number of farmers of the area were also present on the occasion.
