JAMMU, Nov 22 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today inaugurated Water Supply Scheme at Pallanwala in Chhamb.
The pumping station, having a capacity of 5,000 gallons per hour, has been constructed with Rs. 69 lakh under National Rural Drinking Water Programme which will benefit the local populace of Pallanwala and its adjoining areas.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the State Government is working hard to ensure equitable development of the State for which several development plans have been chalked out. The objective of PHE Department is to provide clean drinking to each and every household with special focus on border and kandi areas, he added. He further said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is showing keen interest towards the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to the demand of farmers, the Minister said that all the canals will be cleaned up in a phased manner and sufficient water will be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes.
MLAs Dr. Krishan Lal and Rajeev Sharma, Chief Engineer PHE and Irrigation Rajeev Gandotra, Executive Engineers of departments of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control including sarpanchs and panchs of adjoining villagers were present on the occasion.
