JAMMU, Mar 12: Minister for PHE and Irrigation, Sukhnandan Choudhary today visited Sitlee Water Treatment Plant in Nagrota to review its functioning .
The Minister inspected the 38-Million Gallon Discharge (MLD) Water Treatment Plant, Water Testing Laboratory and Intake Units.
Chief Engineer PHE, Sushil Aima accompanied the Minister during the visit. He informed the Minister about the capacity of filtration plants and said that it supplies 19.6 MGD clean potable water per day to Manda Reserviour, Lohar Reserviour, Upper Roop Nagar upto Keran besides major parts of old city.
The Minister directed the concerned engineers to take preventive measures for safeguarding the plant from the flood waters. He stressed on regular lab tests to ensure safe drinking water is provided to the people. He also asked them to update the store inventories and proper upkeep of filtration plants.
Mr. Sukhnandan asked the engineers and officers to maintain transparency and efficiency in the overall functioning of the PHE and Irrigation departments and maintain punctuality in the offices.
The Minister stressed upon the field functionaries to ensure proper monitoring so that the people do not face difficulties due to shortage of drinking water and irrigation facilities.
