Sukhnandan lays foundation of causeway

JAMMU, Jan 27: Former Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Ch Sukhnandan, today laid foundation stone of vented causeway on Akalpur Pouni road. The causeway will be constructed under the State plan at an estimated cost of Rs 1.59 crore.
Listing the developmental works completed in his home constituency, he said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the schemes. He also underlined the need for public involvement in the developmental activities and said that without their cooperation, the objective of the taking State’s development tempo to new highs cannot be achieved. Reiterating his commitment to ensure better governance, he is bound to revolutionize the public delivery system and enforcement of accountability and transparency in the working of departments.
He further said that he is fully aware of people’s hardships and is making all out efforts to provide all basic amenities like safe drinking water, un-interrupted power supply, road connectivity, better lanes and drains besides education and health. He asked the officers to ensure proper monitoring and usage of quality material, adding that there would be no compromise on quality of work. He called upon the people to cooperate with executing agencies in completing the ongoing works started in their respective colonies. He asked the executing agencies to make optimum use of funds and complete the projects taken up under PHE, ERA, Irrigation and Flood Control sectors in a time bound manner.
