Sukhnandan lays foundation stone of canal syphon

JAMMU, Mar 23: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar today laid foundation stone of canal syphon for Tawi Feeder Channel at Belicharana.
The 450 Mtr RCC Syphon to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs.6.40 crore will ensure discharge of 144 cusecs water benefitting a population of about 22000 in 42 villages.
The Minister while addressing a public gathering on the occasion said that all out efforts will be made to provide better facilities to the people. He sought public cooperation for carrying forward the developmental initiatives and asked them to help the concerned agencies for keeping a check on the illegal excavations from Tawi bed.
Mr Sukhnandan directed the officers to ensure that the projects are completed within stipulated time frame and proper monitoring should be done.
The Minister after giving a patient hearing to the demands and grievances projected by the people of the area directed the officers to take necessary steps for their redressal and assured the people that their genuine demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner.
Regarding the issue of a bridge at Surya Chak that was damaged during the floods, the Minister said that a foot bridge will be constructed soon for the convenience of the people till the time the bridge is constructed.

Flood Control Jammu H.C Jerath, Superintending Engineer Rajeev Malhotra, Executive Engineer Division No 1 S.R Shukla besides people of the area were also present on the occasion.
