DODA/KISHTWAR, May 28: Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar accompanied by MLA Doda Shakti Raj and MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh today inspected various water supply schemes in Doda and Kishtwar and sanctioned augmentation of 3 stage Lift Water Supply scheme for Kishtwar District. Minister of State for PWD (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Sharma was also present on the occasion.
The Minister while sanctioning of 3.42 crore three stage lift water supply scheme for Kishtwar district said that Government is fully aware about the shortage of water supply in Kishtwar adding that with the augmentation of 3 stage lift WSS district Kishtwar will get 4 lac gallons of drinking water per day in addition to the already working lift which also supplies 4 lac gallons of water per day.
Earlier, while inspecting the water Supply schemes in Prem Nagar, Bhella, Kandhote, Thathri and Dhrabshala area, Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure speedy restoration of the WSS that have got damaged or affected due to rains or landslides. Minister also directed the officers to ensure proper filtration and treatment of the drinking water before being supplied to the common masses.
The Minister while addressing the people enroute to Kishtwar said that Government is committed to provide all the basic necessities to the people. He said old water supply schemes are being augmented besides new schemes are also in pipeline to provide adequate and equitable distribution of drinking water to the people.
Later the Minister held a meeting with officers of PHE department at Kishtwar.
